About
The son of a New England adman, Court appeared in his first commercial for Andersen Little department stores at the age of seven. Shortly afterwards, the industry collectively decided he belonged on the other side of the camera.
After starting his career at Rossin, Greenberg & Seronick, Court came to Los Angeles to join Team One Advertising as a copywriter in 1990. It was here that he created the Kelly and Effie award-winning work that launched the Lexus Coupe and more importantly, where he met his wife, Denise, on his first day of employment.
Court moved on to be creative director of Stein, Robaire and Helm in 1992, before leaving in 1995 to form Ground Zero. During his seventeen years as Creative Partner of Ground Zero, Court created and oversaw award-winning advertising for a variety of clients including ESPN, Beck’s, Virgin, the LA Times and the anti smoking effort for California. He also produced a children’s book called Hugville released by Random House, two actual children (Chase15 & Zane 12), the Dreamworks movie, Old School and the independent film, A Lobster Tale. At the start of 2010, Court folded Ground Zero into Wong, Doody, Crandall, Wiener, where he is a partner and executive creative director.
Amongst his accolades, Court has been named both Creative All Star and Creative Director of the Year by Adweek Magazine and Creative Leader of the Year by the WSAAA. He’s won all the major industry awards from One Show Pencils to gold Cannes Lions. Not to mention some film awards such as “Best Screenplay” at the Phoenix Film Festival and “Best Feature Film” at the Omaha Film Festival. But he won’t talk to you about them unless you ask, which you probably won’t—mostly because it’s really a boring subject.
While Court’s proud of his individual accomplishments, he’s more excited about who he’s reached these milestones with, considering himself personal friends with numerous clients and employees he’s worked with through the years. And he’s way more focused on what’s ahead than what’s in the rearview mirror.
